Can you tell a little more about yourself and what you do?

A little more about myself? Never not not working, I'm always busy! As an entrepreneur, I think 'practice what you preach and preach what you practice' is super important'. I am founder and owner of the eyewear brand Odette Lunettes since 2015. We currently have 5 monobrand stores of our own, about 700 distributors in 20 countries worldwide and are currently expanding to the States.

Are you already familiar with the concept of space sharing?
Sure! Because with Odette Lunettes we have a beautiful location in Antwerp that has to be seen, we offer it as a space for rent on the Cocom app. It would be a shame that it remains a hidden gem... That's why space sharing is super, there are still so many beautiful spots that are unused and available. Everyone works very hard to have more but that doesn't result in a sustainable society, as nicely explained in Tim Jackson's book, Prosperity Without Growth. There are so many sustainable ways to do things different: Why not deliver packages with drones? Why not do more robot-driven work? The same goes for "space". Car use takes up all that spaces in the streets. There is vacancy in the shopping streets but it costs so much for customers to park close by. Yet the experience in a physical location, the store itself, is so important. Then space sharing does come in handy. People start discovering things. Because often we have blinders on.


How important is "space" to you in what you do as an entrepreneur?

Super important! Not only the space in itself is important, but also the location. With Odette Lunettes we try to radiate our own identity, standing out is of secondary importance. But the store experience has to stay on top of mind anyway, which is why our 'silver foil' is a recurring element in all our stores. Except Antwerp, which is our first store and headquarters at the same time!


Who do you like to book space?

I would love to see fashion brands come over, brands that make sustainable use of our location. Also, it would be nice if events could be organized in there. Or even very corporate events.


Who would you recommend the app to?

To people who are really open and receptive to new things, who love to discover, who want to be surprised by everything that has not yet been discovered in their area.
