Are you a student in Antwerp and looking for a space to study among your peers without distraction? We hear you... Since Covid forced students for the last two years to study at home, the need to enjoy the social aspects of the student life have never been more present and urgent.
It seems indeed a rising trend for students to study together. They meet at school libraries, city libraries and even cafés where other people are working and where there is some place of peace and quiet. Recently, even public study rooms at night have gained the likes of students. Not to be confused with bars, to be clear. The main ingredient that ties all these student hangout spots together, is the feeling that you're not the only one suffering or struggling through those books. It also gives students the right amount of peer pressure and control and thus, less distraction. What's better than having a secondhand opinion from your peers when questions about certain topics arise. Plus, research has shown that discussing matter in group can help you process and remember better. It's a win-win.
That's why we joined forces with STUDY360 to offer free space to study during the run-up of the exams after Christmas break. STUDY360 is a platform that offers students free space to study at unique locations in Antwerp city, reaching out to more than 50.000 students. STUDY360 is a project by STAN, an agency founded by the City of Antwerp, the Antwerp University Association (AUHA) and the Antwerp Student Council. The study locations are open to all students of University of Antwerp, Karel de Grote Hogeschool, AP Hogeschoool, Thomas More Antwerpen, KU Leuven Campus Antwerpen, Hogere Zeevaartschool and Institute of Tropical Medicine. You can also register if you are studying in another city, but living in Antwerp. On the platform, you'll find our very own full-circle creative hub The Butterfly Effect that will be turned into a quiet study place during the month December. Students can even enjoy some art during their break. Have you spotted the insane mural by Antwerp artist Larsen Bervoets that covers the hub? A pop of bright colors and creativity...just what you needed during 'de blok'!
Head over to STUDY360 to reserve your study spot at the Butterfly Effect. We can accommodate up to 20 students with access to wifi and hot water for tea.
Opening days and hours:
Monday 26/12 - 9h30 to 21h
Tuesday, December 27 to Friday, December 30 - 9h00 to 21h30
Tuesday 2/1 to Friday 6/1 - 9h00 to 21h30
Make sure you register at STUDY360 before you head out to our free study space. This allows the platform to display the number of available places live on the website so that nobody turns up at a location and is surprised to find there is no space.
